A1804029_On the way home after work, we happened to meet her. She was struggling to walk on the sidewalk towa The Technical Symphony of ‘Supersports: FULL SEND’: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Bentley’s High-Octane Cinematic Evolution Crewe, England — April 1, 2026 — The tyre smoke has long since cleared, the engine roar has faded, but the legacy of Bentley’s most audacious film to date continues to reverberate through the automotive world. “Supersports: FULL SEND,” the groundbreaking cinematic collaboration featuring the inimitable Travis Pastrana, has recently emerged from the editing suite, providing a compelling testament to the meticulous engineering and creative genius that defined the project. The curtains are finally drawn on the process of bringing this ambitious vision to life, a feat achieved through the seamless integration of Bentley’s elite engineering prowess with the raw, anarchic energy of a motorsports legend. The genesis of “Supersports: FULL SEND” can be traced back to April 2025. The launch of the all-new Supersports offered more than just a performance upgrade; it provided the impetus for Bentley to conceive a novel form of cinematic storytelling. The initial concept, internally christened ‘Pymkhana’—a gymkhana executed on Pyms Lane, the historic address of the Bentley factory—was first explored through a series of intensive conversations with key internal departments. To the surprise of all involved, the consensus was clear: the vision was not only possible, but eminently achievable with sufficient preparation. Following approval from the Bentley Board of Management, the R&D department embarked on the critical mission of transforming a standard Supersports development vehicle into a car capable of withstanding the demands of this unprecedented project.
Precision Engineering Meets High-Octane Mayhem The core of the Pymkhana car lay in the radical transformation of the Supersports’ inherent capabilities. Alistair Corner, the Bentley Engineering Manager who oversaw the vehicle’s preparation, articulated the mission with characteristic precision: “The mission for our ‘Pymkhana’ car was to turn the already-capable Supersports up to 11 – to remove all the safety features that the production version must include, and to add functionality to allow the car to dance around the narrow roads of our factory. The team of engineers that developed the car was outstanding, learning on-the-fly and coming up with creative solutions to turn the car into a monster. Crucially, what that special car can now do is an extension of the inherent ability within Supersports – the Pymkhana car is a Supersports without limits, that demonstrates what our chassis and powertrain can do when taken to the extreme.” At the heart of this technical overhaul was the electronic Limited Slip Differential (eLSD), which was re-tuned to provide earlier locking capabilities, drastically altering the car’s handling dynamics. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) was permanently disabled, and bespoke software modifications were engineered to permit both static and rolling burnouts. However, the true game-changer was the design and integration of a functional hydraulic handbrake, carefully integrated with the eight-speed double-clutch gearbox’s control system. This innovation enabled the car to navigate the factory’s tight road network with a level of agility and sideways precision that would have been impossible with conventional steering, allowing the car to drift and pivot effortlessly through tight corners. Beyond the functional modifications, the visual transformation of the star car was equally striking. Designed by the renowned graphic artist Deathspray, the vehicle received a custom-painted, gymkhana-inspired wrap, complemented by a set of custom-painted 22-inch wheels. Beneath the underbody of the star car, a pair of titanium skid blocks were installed, engineered to generate the spectacular shower of sparks that punctuated the film’s dramatic climax. A Collaboration of Titans: Pastrana and Bentley The choice of Travis Pastrana as the lead driver was a masterstroke. His reputation for pushing the boundaries of motorsports and his ability to handle extreme vehicles perfectly aligned with Bentley’s ambition to produce a film that transcended traditional automotive marketing. Following the agreement with Pastrana, filming was scheduled for 26-28 September 2025. However, before production could commence, every ‘scene’ was meticulously planned and choreographed. The primary goal was to mitigate any potential risks to the car, the driver, and the historic Bentley factory. Operating within a live, working factory environment presented a unique set of challenges. The risk landscape was complex, requiring an extraordinary level of care to protect critical infrastructure such as gas mains, fibre optic cables, water pipes, and even the entire factory’s electrical power supply—all of which were situated mere inches from some of the dynamic action sequences. Scenes involving other vehicles, such as the car park chase sequence with the Pikes Peak Bentleys or the Brooklands burnout sequence, necessitated additional layers of coordination and included two precision drivers working in concert with Pastrana. Logistical Challenges: Securing the Perfect Stage The production itself involved a comprehensive team of over 100 individuals, a diverse group comprising the core production crew and essential supporting teams drawn from across Bentley. The main filming crew consisted of approximately 25 people, including two primary camera operators, two drone operators, two minicam technicians, and a three-person crew responsible for operating a bespoke tracking car built around a first-generation Bentayga W12, complete with a U-Crane arm. Supporting teams formed the backbone of the operation, ensuring flawless execution. A 10-person team of location marshals was deployed to guarantee that each location within the factory premises was completely secured for filming. This was supplemented by 25 vehicle specialists, organized into two teams, a dedicated factory support team, a medical team, a fire crew, car wranglers, heritage car drivers, and a robust health and safety unit. The safety of all personnel and the integrity of the factory environment were paramount throughout the entire production. The Unveiling: A Spectacle of Speed and Precision
Miraculously, the filming proceeded with minimal disruption. The only damage sustained during the high-octane sequences, which included speeds exceeding 120 mph, was a single smashed wing mirror. Mike Sayer, Bentley’s Head of Product Communications and Executive Producer for the project, reflected on the experience: “The filming days were incredibly intense but ultimately the most fun we’ve ever had at the campus. We were fortunate with the weather, and the star car, the supporting cast of vehicles and all the teams involved performed to an exceptional standard. Despite the beyond-the-limit driving involved, and speeds exceeding 120 mph, the only damage sustained to person or machine was one smashed wing mirror! I’m grateful to every single Bentley colleague who worked so hard to deliver this unique project for us.” After three intensive days of filming and a further three months of post-production, both meticulously led by the exceptional Director Jon Richards, the finished film was released in January. “Supersports: FULL SEND” is packed with 12 ‘Easter Eggs’—a hidden tribute to Bentley’s legacy and milestones—that only the most eagle-eyed viewers will be able to spot. This deliberate integration of historical references and inside jokes adds another layer of depth to the narrative, rewarding devoted fans and newcomers alike. Beyond the Horizon: The Future of Bentley at the Forefront of Innovation As Bentley continues to push the boundaries of luxury performance, the creation of “Supersports: FULL SEND” serves as a clear indicator of the company’s evolving marketing strategy. It reflects a shift towards more engaging, emotionally resonant content that connects with a younger, more digitally native audience. By blending high-performance automotive engineering with cultural icons like Travis Pastrana, Bentley is successfully positioning itself not just as a manufacturer of exclusive luxury vehicles, but as a lifestyle brand that embodies performance, innovation, and daring spirit. In an era where consumers are increasingly discerning about the brands they align with, Bentley’s commitment to authenticity and creativity is proving to be a powerful differentiator. The company’s willingness to invest in groundbreaking projects that challenge traditional norms demonstrates a deep-seated belief in its own capabilities and a desire to remain at the forefront of both automotive excellence and cultural relevance.
